Summer is the season when we tend to spend more time outdoors, whether that’s out exploring nature or lounging by the pool. This also means your skin is more exposed to harmful UV rays and other damaging effects of the sun. In order to keep your skin protected and youthful looking, you might want to add a couple of tweaks to your regular skin care regimen.

High SPF is Your Friend
Summer skin care is simply unimaginable without one key product – a solid sunscreen that’s high in SPF. If you’re not the kind of person who uses sunscreen on the regular, you should try to incorporate it into your everyday routine at least during the hottest summer months. Otherwise, you risk irritation, spots and accelerated signs of aging on your skin.

After Sun Care
Once you’re done catching the rays, it’s still crucial that you replenish your skin and restore it moisture levels, even if you feel like you are already extra oily. Ditch your heavy duty winter moisturizer and switch to products infused with anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties like Aloe Vera, Jojoba oil or cucumber. They will simultaneously rejuvenate your skin and cool it down.

Extra Exfoliation
During summer months, dead skin cells tend to accumulate on your face at a quicker pace, which is why you should think about exfoliation at least once or twice a week. Stay away from any harsh scrubs and opt instead for gentle products that contain natural exfoliants.
