If there is one thing I have come to terms with, it is that my health needs a lot of attention. After all, the better I take care of my health, the more I can do and accomplish. I’m guilty of having neglected my health in the past; I was careless and didn’t know enough about nutrition. However, that has all changed and now I know all about superfoods and how they can help keep my body at optimum health.

This is one of my favorite superfoods because I love how versatile it is and how good it is for me. I mix it with fruits, sometimes with nuts and honey, and sometimes I eat it plain. Yogurt is rich in probiotics, as well as calcium, and other good-for-you vitamins and minerals.

Fatty fish like salmon and mackerel do not only taste good but they have tons of omega-3 fatty acids that help prevent a myriad of health conditions that are linked to inflammation. I like to grill my salmon with a little sprinkle of pepper and salt plus some lemon juice on the side. It tastes divine and I like knowing that I’m devouring something that is actually good for me.

Blueberries

These yummy berries are choc-full of flavonoids that act as powerful antioxidants. These antioxidants do a lot to prevent inflammation in the body and trap free radicals before they do any lasting damage. I love mixing blueberries with my yogurt to bulk it up and I enjoy it for breakfast or as a mid-day snack. I also sprinkle it on salads from time to time.

Red tomatoes, the fresh ones, taste like the sun to me and I just love ‘em. This is why I was delighted to find out that they are rich in lycopene. This property has tons of health benefits for women and also for men.

Popeye was on to something, wasn’t he? Spinach is rich in beta-carotene, vitamin C, and antioxidants, too. I love spinach salads and I also like them in smoothies!
